In this 2-day class, you will learn how to turn a photo enlargement of a pet or favorite animal into a fabric creation. Using fabric scraps, you will create your animal to look accurate to its natural colors or you can choose to make your animal whimsical by using colorful and highly patterned fabric scraps. The techniques taught in the class make this process both fun and easy. You will learn how to create vibrant eyes and how to finish the background in several ways. When choosing your animal photo, those that focus on the face/head of the animal will work best for your project.

With a little bit of fabric, scraps or yardage, you can make a fun, fabulous stocking that will hold lots of surprises. The photos below show four versions of the project: one made from a single fabric with no embellishments; one made from a single fabric with embellishments; two made of scraps pieced either crazy-quilt style or strips. They can be elegant or cozy. You decide which one would bring joy to your holiday mantle and bring the materials listed for that style.

The middle and the corners of this block are the perfect places to “fussy cut” a holiday fabric or any themed fabric that you would like to showcase. Instruction will be given on using the Rotary Cutter (a quilter’s best friend) and how to “fussy cut” your fabric. Then you will learn how to add borders, quilt and bind to finish off your wall-hanging just in time for the holiday season.
