| Instructor Bio: | Quilting has been an important part of my life for over 70 years. I made quilts with my mother, quilts of necessity. I made quilts for my family and friends, quilts of love and celebration. As an adult, I became driven by advanced techniques and patterns and was influenced by master quilters like Jinny Beyer. After I retired in 2008 from a career in IT communications and education, I had the time to expand my traditional quilting skills into modern designs. From there, I began exploring many fiber art techniques and for the last ten years I have enjoyed designing most of my pieces. Color, texture, nature, geometry, and yes, even math, have been the main foundation elements in my recent work. I was selected as the Artist in Residence for Q1 2021 by the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association. No matter the material, no matter the design, no matter the quality of workmanship, the success of each piece is always the joy of the process. |
